Here at West Atlanta Pediatrics we are proud to offer vision screenings. These screenings are especially important for school age children. While your child may have a screening at school, these are usually not comprehensive enough to catch many vision problems that often go undiagnosed in children. Fortunately, we can complete a more thorough screening during one of your child’s well-child examinations. We recommend having vision screenings on a yearly basis as vision can change between screenings. Common signs that your child’s vision has changed include:
- Frequent squinting
- Holding a book or device close to the face while reading
- Frequent eye rubbing and blinking
- Headaches while reading or during periods of heavy concentration
- Covering one eye when trying to focus on an object
- Short attention span
